Parenthood is not always easy. If your child is a snow enthusiast, giving apple slices is simply not that attractive. My son could eat cones for breakfast (and lunch and probably dinner) if I allowed him. They are sweet, colorful as a shiny rainbow of flavors, and nice to pour in your hand, hit it down and go for the next handful when your mother has turned her head. So far, dentist visits have gone well, and my son actually enjoys his nocturnal flossing routine with flosssticks.
I am not against treats, but I know it is important to get enough of the good things for young brains and bodies to develop and have energy – in contrast to the mania of sugar heights and lows. This is especially the key for school days when children have to pay attention to learn and participate.
Although he has his favorite candy every week or twice, I am dedicated to a healthy lunch bag for school. He likes a sandwich, rhizomes or pepper strips, cucumber slices and some fruit such as clementine segments or green grapes. I also put a small container with roasted sunflower seeds for proteins and healthy fat.
Take healthy sweets to stimulate the attraction of the lunch bag
Here is the sweet part: fruit bars, fruit leather or muesliren are good. But my new discovery is freezed fresh fruit. You can get berries, bananas or mixed fruit without added sugar. The intensity of the sweet taste is wonderfully reinforced by the freezing process, which also stores the texture and nutrients of the fruit (or I have read so). As a point of mother proudly, my son really likes this. And they don’t spoil if they stay in his backpack for a while.
