Former Vice President Kamala Harris offered a lukewarm approval for the mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani in New York City in an interview on Monday.
Harris sat down with Rachel Maddow from MSNBC for an interview in which they discussed her new book “107 Days” that will appear on Tuesday. Maddow emphasized a part of Harris’s book that discussed and identified the “Stars Project” of the former VP, where she met and identified in rising stars in the democratic party.
Maddow asked Harris for her opinion about the socialist candidate as a rising star and whether she supported him.

“Look, as far as I’m concerned, he is the democratic nominee, and he should be supported,” Harris began.
“Are you ignoring his candidacy?” Maddow printed.
“I support the Democrat in the race, certainly,” said Harris.
Harris quickly followed by saying that Mamdani was not the only “star” in the Democratic party and hoped that people would pay attention to other races throughout the country.
“But I mean, there are people like Barbara Drummond in Mobile, Alabama, Helena Moreno in New Orleans. They’re all Running for Mayor, Too, and they are stars. Although it is the Democratic candidate for the mayor of New York City, Mamdani still has to receive receptions from large party leaders such as house removal leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate -Lurziness leader Chuck Schumer, who both also represent New York.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul endorsed Mamdani on September 14 after three months.

“New York City deserves a mayor who stands up against Donald Trump and makes life more affordable for New Yorkers. That is @zohrankmamdani,” Hochul wrote on social media.

Mamdani has had to deal with criticism from more moderate Democrats for his progressive proposals, such as city shops in the city and his refusal to condemn the anti-Israeli slogan “globalizes the Intifada.”
