India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya will undergo a detailed injury assessment at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru as he continues his recovery from a quadriceps injury sustained during the 2025 Asia Cup. The injury, which occurred during India’s Super Four match against Sri Lanka, forced Pandya to miss the tournament final against Pakistan – a match that India would later win emphatically. So let’s take a look at BCCI CoE’s comeback due to Hardik Pandya injury.

Pandya joins BCCI CoE for rehabilitation

Hardik Pandya will be joining the group BCCI CoE had his left quadriceps injury thoroughly examined on Tuesday. The medical team will assess the extent of the injury and map out a roadmap for his rehabilitation and return to competitive cricket.

Encouragingly, initial assessments indicate that Pandya will not require surgery, and his recovery timeline looks positive. If all goes according to plan, the Baroda all-rounder is expected to make his comeback to cricket next month.

Excluded from the Indian Tour of Australia

The BCCI recently announced India’s white-ball teams for the upcoming tour of Australia, which will include both ODI and T20I series. However, Hardik Pandya was left out of the squad due to his ongoing recovery process. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Pandya will not travel with the team and will instead continue his rehabilitation at the CoE.

“Hardik will not be fit for Australia due to the injury he sustained before the Asia Cup final. We will know more once he starts rehabilitation at the CoE next week,” Agarkar said.

Agarkar also said that this series presents a golden opportunity for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been named as Pandya’s replacement. The selectors are also keeping an eye on Rishabh Pant, who continues his own rehabilitation for a foot injury at the same facility.

Pandya’s recent form and injury history

Before his injury, Pandya played a crucial role in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy win earlier this year. During the 2025 Asia Cup, he showed moments of brilliance, including a quick-fire 38 against Bangladesh, although he struggled with consistency overall.

Over the years, Pandya has suffered several injuries but remains one of India’s most crucial all-round players. In his 94 ODIs, he has scored over 1,700 runs at an average of 32.82 and picked up 73 wickets at 35.50, providing valuable balance to the side.

The way forward

With the World T20 and other big assignments approaching, India will be hoping for Pandya’s quick return. His fitness at the CoE will be closely monitored, and if recovery goes as expected, fans could see him back in national colors in November 2025.
