Harden leads Cavs despite broken thumb, outlasts Nets 106-102 – TalkBasket.net

The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a two-game skid on Sunday with a 106-102 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

James Harden led the Cavaliers with 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, including 5 for 9 and 4 for 7 from beyond the arc, after missing two games after breaking his thumb earlier this week.

Jarrett Allen added 20 points, and Evan Mobley scored 16 points and 13 boards, helping Cleveland improve to 12-1 in their last 13 games against the Nets. Sam Merrill finished with 15 and Dennis Schroder with 10.

On the other side, Michael Porter Jr. scored. 26 points on 10-for-17 shooting, while Danny Wolf added 23 and nine rebounds for the Nets. Nolan Traore contributed 17 points, and Grant Nelson with 11.

Brooklyn has lost its eighth game in a row for the eleventh time in thirteen games and has fallen to 15-45 overall.

The Nets led 56-42 at halftime. Aided by 50% (21 for 42) shooting from the field.

Cleveland rallied in the second half and led by eight points with just over three minutes left in the fourth before the Nets rallied.

Brooklyn closed with three points to 102-99 on a basket by Traore with 28.6 seconds left, followed by Wolf, who converted with a point to cut the score to 102-101.

Schroder made a pair of free throws and Wolf hit 1 of 2, giving the Cavs a two-point lead with 5.9 seconds left.

Schroder and Mobley added free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell was sidelined for the third straight game due to a groin injury. Dean Wade also sat out with a sprained ankle.

Both teams play on Tuesday: the Cavaliers host the Pistons, while the Nets visit Miami.
