Hall pins his hopes on Lazarus gelding

Champion runner Gary Hall junior had a choice of three rides at the Vale Peter Blaszczak Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday evening, and he has given punters a valuable edge by choosing to handle Nathan Street ahead of Sweet Coco and My Watchlist.

.

He had driven Sweet Coco and My Watchlist to decisive victories in their last outings, while Nathan Street had no luck last Friday night when he finished eighth behind The Iron Duke in the Christmas Gift.

And Nathan Street faces a stern test from the outside barrier (No. 8) on the front line in Friday night’s 2130m event. He overcame the disadvantage of starting from barrier nine in a heat of the Christmas Gift two starts ago, when he was last at the bell and in fifth place with 150 meters to travel before storming home to win by almost a length from Blaze Away, rated 1.55.6.

Hall trains Nathan Street and Sweet Coco, while My Watchlist is created by his father Gary Hall snr.

Sweet Coco was most impressive last Friday evening when she was last at the bell in the field of seven in a 1730m event before sprinting brilliantly to storm to the front with a distance of 400m en route to victory almost two lengths ahead of pacesetter Quinton, with a score of 1.54.8. She starts from barrier five and is piloted by Stuart McDonald.

My Watchlist overcame a wide draw at barrier seven when eighth at the bell and then surged home to win by half a length over the league leaders Hi Suga Rush over 2130 meters last Friday. He will start from fence five and will be fielded by Emily Suvaljko.

Nathan Street has been late to mobile starts of late, and last Friday evening he was slow to score and out of position at the start when he trailed early pacer Captain Confetti by about six lengths.

He started a strong move from behind toward the bell, but ruined his chances when he contacted the rock and roll artist’s sulky, broke into a gallop and dropped back to the back.

Pinjarra trainer-leader Chris Voak has two runners in Friday night’s event, in which he has chosen to field Fat Louie from the favorable No. 2 barrier, while Chris Lewis will ride Our Vinnie from the No. 4 barrier.

Four-year-old Fat Louie has won five of his fourteen starts. He finished strong, winning against Lil Happy Fella and Xcite me three starts ago. Our Vinnie was handled by Lewis as he battled on from sixth at the bell to finish third behind Sugar Delight and Greatgreat Boulder over 2130 meters at Gloucester Park last Tuesday.

Coolup trainer Phil Costello has five-year-old gelding Era racing enthusiastically, with two wins and two placings in his past four starts. He will again be piloted by Dylan Egerton-Green from the ideal number 1 barrier.

Banjup trainer Colin Brown also has Arma Believer performing well with four wins and three seconds from his nine starts as a four-year-old. Maddison Brown will drive the Arma faithful, who will have to overcome the disadvantage of starting wide at barrier eight.
