If you look at the Pacing Superstars West Australian Harness Racing Trainer Gary Hall SNR has trained, it is clear that he is a big fan of New Zealand and the south -bred southern stock.

An eye on his list of top ten pacers, all ten have been bred new and seven are SBSR.

The SBSR Seven are Imthmentiquin, Chicago Bull, Beau-Siers, Jumping Jackmackmaci, Dego, Boncony.

I am for them

“I currently have his half -brother to Wild West here (I am Stealth). It recently won the first start and went really well,” Hall said.

“He will race next Friday evening, I hope. He has a few small tricks in his sleeve. He is a foal and a bit of a handful, but he works pretty well.”

Another recent addition to the stable is Methuselah, (Bettor’s wish) A qualified but undamaged biennial bred by Macca Lodge.

“He’s nowhere near Racing, I haven’t jumped him yet.”

Hall has won more than 3,200 races. Fifty are group one races and most of them with new -zealand bred horses.

“I will start to get better now that we can go to every stallions as long as the mare is domicilizing here. The quality of WA Bred Porges will get better, but I still think that new Zeeland is the place to go.”

Hall has been training since 1988 and has won the WA Trainers Premiership a number of times.

“Fred Kelsley was the leading trainer in WA for twenty -five years. I took over from him. The reason for that was that I stopped concentrating on WA Bred horses. I went to the square and bought new -Zeeland horses.”

Hall’s enthusiasm for New Zealand shares was stimulated by two of his early purchases.

He bought Abit Rich from John Vincent after he won seven races in Nieuw -Zeeland. He won another seven for Hall. He also bought the Falcon Strike, a nine start girl that won 41 races and bank more than $ 1.2 million.

Two of the best horse in Hall, both SBSR, IM Themeyquinn and Chicago Bull, still live on the site.

“Yes, they are here. They look great. I am a bit afraid that they will survive me (laughing). I am seventy -six on Tuesday.”

Hall SNR says his son trains a few more horses. Gary Hall JNR has kept a license for a while, but has not focused on training, rather riding instead. He has trained 53 winners so far.

He recently bought Bettathanlife from Oamaru trainer Matty Williamson. The three -year -old captain Crunch Filly had one start in NZ and finished third. She won her debut in Pinjarra for Hall JNR last Monday at thirty -three meters.

“A man who called to give me a horse, thought he spoke to me but spoke with junior and he gave the horse to him (laughed). The horse was Miki Jet. It won a few races (6) and the guy gave him a few more.”

Junior has also been successful with Dealis Robyn (3 wins) bred by Graeme Edgar, Bluto (1) and Dawson (4), bred all new -Zeeland. Bluto is jointly owned by Mick Boots and Mosgiel Horseman Graeme Anderson.
