Arjun Prasad produced a steady 2 under par 70 on Wednesday to climb in the lead of the RS 1 Crore Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore Golf Club.
Delhi golfer Prasad (70-70), who was shot third at night, took the pace at the top with a stroke on a 4 under total of 140, the PGTI said.
Overnight joint Topper Jamal Hossain (69-72) from Dhaka slid to second place in the event presented by Sipcot and Tancem at 3 under 141 with a level par 72 on day two.
With stiff winds that continued to blow over the CGC, it was again a tough day to score.
Pune’s Pranav Mardikar had the low score of the day of 69 to go up 11 places to third place at 2 under 142 next to Ahmedabad’s Anshul Patel (71).
The Anshul Kabthiyal of Delhi corresponded to the best of the day to hold fifth place at 1 under 143.
Gaurav Pratap Singh, the other joint leader at night a 79 returned and dropped to 20one Place 4 above 148.
Chennai’s S. Prasanth (77-71) was the only professional established in Tamil Nadu who made the cut at 8 over 152, because he was on T20 next to Singh. A total of 52 professionals made grace.

Arjun Prasad, second in the PGTI order of merit and haunting a first title, started with a bogey on the first hole.
He then ran two birdies and a second bogey on the front nine to make the bend par.
Prasad had a much better back nine with two birdies from conversions of 15 feet.
“I kept the ball in the game for most of the day,” said Prasad. “Initially I missed a few greens, but then I continued to create the opportunities for myself. I also made a few good par-saves.
“The PIN positions were not easy today, so on the right side of the hole was important.
“In these circumstances it is important to understand how to play with or against the wind. I feel that I did so well today.”
Hossain, winner in Hyderabad last week, had three birdies and three bogeys on his card.
