HAL shares rise 2% if the Ministry of Defense Ink RS 62,370 Crore Deal for 97 injas MK-1A Jets

Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) On Friday, September 25, no less than 2.2% rose to an intraday height of RS 4.827.95 on the BSE after the Ministry of Defense (MOD) had signed a substantial contract, for RS 62.370 CRORE, with the state of Runned Aerospace Company.

According to an earlier ET report, the MOD signed an RS 62.370 CRORE contract with a hall for purchasing 97 injas MK-1A Jets under the Buy (Indiadm) category.

The contract comprises 68 hunter variants and 29 double side aircraft and excludes taxes. This marks the second that such order has been awarded to HAL, after an RS 48,000 Crore deal signed in February 2021 for 83 Jets.

The new contract includes the delivery of aircraft together with associated equipment for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The deliveries under this agreement are planned to start in 2027-28.

The advanced MK-1A variant of the tejas will be equipped with indigenous characteristics such as Swayam Raksha Kavach and Control Actuators. The plane is said to be more than 64% indigenous content and 67 new indigenous items.

The MK-1A with one engine is expected to replace the aging MIG-21 fleet of the IAF. The IAF is currently inducing new aircraft, with the number of active hunter-squadrons up to 31 of the officially sanctioned strength of 42. The injas MK-1A is a multi-role fighter aircraft that are designed to work in a high threat of air environments. It has been developed for several combat scenarios, including air defense, strike and maritime exploration. The last order will further strengthen the company’s order book and improve the indigenous defense production under the government’s self -reliance initiative.
