The GWM Ora 5 has been confirmed for its market launch in Thailand in March, Autolife Thailand has reported. The Ora 5 was first unveiled in September 2025 and was officially launched in China last November, starting at 109,800 Yuan (RM64,100).

The brand is yet to confirm specifications for the model that will soon arrive in Thailand, although at its launch in China it was revealed that the Ora 5 had one powertrain specification, namely a single 204PS/260Nm motor driving the front wheels, and two battery specifications.

These are lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Svolt, with capacities of 45.3 kWh and 58.3 kWh, delivering a range of 480 km and 580 km respectively according to the Chinese CLTC test cycle, or closer to 390 km to 470 km according to the WLTP standard.

For both battery variants, the Ora 5 can handle DC charging to achieve a 30-80% charge in 20 minutes, and up to 6.6 kW AC charging, the latter requiring 8.5 hours for a full charge of the 45.3 kWh battery, and 10.5 hours to fully charge the 58.3 kWh battery.

There’s obviously a similarity to its stablemate, the Ora Good Cat, which received a facelift in June last year, both in terms of the round headlights and fenders and the rear treatment with full-width taillights integrated into the rear window.

At 4,471mm long, 1,833mm wide and 1,641mm high, the Ora 5 is size-wise between the BYD Atto 3 (4,455mm long) and the Geely EX5 (4,615mm long) (Proton eMas 7 for Malaysians), while the Ora 5’s 2,720mm wheelbase matches that of the Atto 3, and is 30mm shorter than that of the EX5.

There are two floating displays in the Ora 5, consisting of a 10.25-inch driver display and a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, the latter with DeepSeek generative AI integration. For mobile devices there is a 50-watt Qi wireless charger.

Other cabin features include a one-touch passenger seat with built-in footstool and 33 separate storage spaces, including a 3.2-litre heated and cooled compartment for rear passengers. The Ora 5 also gets pet-friendly features such as a waterproof back seat and large footwells that are claimed to fit standard cat beds.

For safety and driver assistance features, all Chinese market variants except the base example get six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering assist; the basic variant works with slow parking AEB. Both battery variants can be optionally equipped with a lidar sensor that adds highly automated city and highway driving and parking assistance, plus a central airbag.
