Bruno Guimaraes joked he was like Alan Shearer in the penalty area after scoring a late winner for Newcastle against Fulham.
Guimaraes’ goal gave Newcastle a 2-1 win over Fulham at St James’ Park on Saturday. The Brazilian’s final goal secured three vital points for the Magpies after Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic canceled out Jacob Murphy’s opener for the home side.
The victory saw Eddie Howe’s side bounce back from last week’s setback at Brighton and climb back into the top half of the Premier League.

Speaking at full-time, Guimaraes jokingly compared himself to Newcastle record scorer Shearer after a poacher’s goal to win it.
“To be honest, we were a bit tired from Wednesday’s Champions League match,” Guimaraes told Final Score.
“It was a big change from us. We have been punished at the end of games, like Arsenal and Liverpool, and now we are scoring at the end. I am happy for everyone. Please for (William) Osula, who came at the end to dribble and shoot.”
