Great Britain completed their Men’s Division II Group A World Championship campaign with a 4-3 extra-time victory against China.
GB secured the silver medal with Thursday’s 2-1 win over Romania, making it four wins in five matches after previous successes against Spain (4-3) and Croatia (5-2).
Wen Jiahao broke through the British defense to put China ahead (03:48), before Kyle Carruth reacted first on a rebound to equalize (07:03).
Bailey Yates reached the loose puck at the top of the crease to make it 2-1 to GB (25:07) and Brynley Capps scored on the powerplay after being set up in front by Jack Clarke (33:58).
China scored with the man advantage as the period ended via Sun Jingkun’s deflected one-timer from the left point (37:01).
Zhao Rongji tapped in Jin Jialin’s shot to equalize for China (42:28) and after chances on both sides the match went into extra time.
The hero was Capps who broke into the zone and danced through the Chinese defense before hitting a top-shelf backhand to win the game (61:29).
