GREAT BRITAIN 1-4 CHINA – Ice Hockey UK

Great Britain were defeated 4-1 by China in their third match of the Under-18 Women’s Division I Group B in Katowice.

Newly promoted GB put in another combative performance but China, in its second consecutive season in the third tier, showed its experience.

Netminder Evelyn Brown made 38 stops, including an outstanding double save from close range against Zhang Luoyi in the opening stages of the first period.

Zhang Luoyi scored from the slot to put China ahead (24:20), before GB hit back just 22 seconds later when strong work on the right boards from Evie Tindale set up Rebecca Voslinsky to drive the net and score (24:42).

China regained the lead in the closing stages of the second period when Yu Xinlu buried a rebound in front of the door during the power play (38:47).

Dai Mi beat the British defense and went top shelf for a nice solo goal (45:04) and Zhou Jiaying reacted first to a loose puck in the crease for China’s fourth (53:48).
