Google announced that its Gemini Deep Research tool now allows users to look at information from Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat when generating research reports. The AI chatbot previously had the ability to search the web, for PDF documents and images uploaded by the user.

“Now you can start a market analysis for a new product by having Deep Research analyze your team’s initial brainstorming documents, related email threads, and project plans. Or you can create a competitive report on a competing product that compares public web data to your strategies, comparison spreadsheets, and team chats,” a Google blog explains.

The chatbot creates a multi-step research plan, searches the Internet, generates the report, edits it according to user instructions, and can export it to Google Docs or create a podcast.

Users can select the ‘Deep Research’ option from Gemini’s Tools menu, find the new ‘Resources’ option in the drop-down menu and see ‘Search’, which now includes Gmail, Drive and Chat in the menu.

Google has said that the feature is already available on the desktop version and will be rolled out to the Gemini app soon.
