Bengaluru’s yellow line of the Namma Metro, which connects RashTreeya Vidyalaya Road (RV Road) and Bommasandra, will be inaugurated on 10 August by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday. In a message about ‘X’, the Bengaluru South MP said: “PM SRI @NarenRamodi Ji will inaugen the all important Yellow Line Metro on 10 August. On behalf of all Bengaluru people, I thank the Prime Minister for always prioritizing infrastructure development of our city.”

Surya, who is also the BJYM National President, quoted Minister of Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, who said on ‘X’, “I was pleased to announce that the Hon’ble Premier of India was kindly agreed to lay 19.15 km of yellow line to be 44.65 KM on Bangalore phase-3”

Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro: Key functions

The yellow line is intended to benefit around eight commuters from Lakh, which makes traffic congestion facilitated and improves connectivity in Bengaluru. With its activities, traffic congestion will be considerably reduced. Although the project has confronted several delays and has missed several earlier deadlines, the line will open to the public without a further delay, with a timely launch.

  • The 19.15 km long yellow line is built for RS 5,056.99 Crore. It will connect RV Road with Bommasandra, making traffic congestion in important areas facilitated, including the notorious Silk Board Junction and Hosur Road.
  • The yellow line will operate the technological corridor of Bengaluru, and offers direct access to large IT hubs, such as Electronic City, which is home to large IT companies such as Infosys and Biocon. It will connect to Infosys Foundation Konappana Agraha Station with the Infosys Campus and Biocon Hebagodi Station.
  • The yellow line will reduce traffic on the Silk Board Junction, which offers better connectivity for residential hubs such as HSR -Lay -Out, Bommasandra Industrial Area and BTM -Lay -Out.
  • The yellow line has direct exchange connections with the green and pink lines. Initially, three trains will be operational on this route; Further plans are present to increase the frequency and add more trains later.
  • With the yellow line, the travel time between South Bengaluru and Electronic City will probably be reduced by a maximum of 60% compared to travel by road during peak hours.
