Good news about the injury of an important twin pitcher soon turns into bad news

After he had taken offside with right shoulder inflammation since July 22, twin pitcher David Festa made a big step in the direction of return to Big League Action by having a successful rehabilitation assignment for Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, to swing 2 2/3 pointless innings with zero hits, three walks and five strikeouts. It seemed that Festa would be back on the Major League selection before the season ended. The Minnesota Star Tribune’s The recent report by Bobby Nightengale suggests differently.

Twins Pitcher David Festa to Miss Restder or 2025 Season

It’s a brutal blow to FestaEspecially since the start rotation of Minnesota is now more busy than ever with Pablo López, Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, Taj Bradley, Zebby Matthews, Mick Abel and Kendry Rojas all in the big competitions or to be expected in the future plans of the Twins. Now that Festa is not getting starting options this year, it is more likely than before that the twins will take him to the Bullpen in 2026, because he rarely throws late in competitions.

This year Festa has made 11 trips (10 Starts) with the twins and has placed an ERA of 5.40 (4.87 FIP) with a strike output of 23.1%, 8.3% running speed and 35.1% ground ball percentage in 53 1/3 innings. He trusts four throws: A Fastball from the mid -90s (37.1%), change change of high 80 (29%), a sliding regulator with high 80 (26.8%) and zinc from the mid -90s (12.5%).

Festa made his MLB debut with the twins last season. He had 14 performances (13 starts) for Minnesota in 2024 and placed a 4.90 ERA with 77 strikeouts and 23 walks in 64 1/3 innings.

The twins had started the 2025 campaign with Triple-A St. Paul before he was added to the Big League team at the beginning of April because of López who suffered a mild hamstring tribe. Festa made three starts before he was sent back to Triple-A St. Paul, where he has a 2.59 ERA with 39 strikeouts and seven free run in 31 1/3 innings over seven starts this season. The twins promoted Festa for the second time this year after López had a right shoulder tribe and he stayed in the Majors until the injured list landed on the injured list at the end of July.
