GOLF Magazine and GOLF.com shine at the 2026 GWAA Awards

GOLF Magazine and GOLF.comthe world’s leading media destinations, have been prominently recognized by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA), with 5 of their creators are honored in 6 different categories in this year’s GWAA Writing Competition.

The lead was taken by an experienced journalist Michael Bamberger, who took two first places to his impressive career.

Bamberger received the award for Best Feature Film for ‘9/11 in New York City from the Long Island Club’ a powerful account from National Golf Links caddy Kevin Williams on the 24th anniversary of his death in the terrorist attacks.

In the same category, GOLF.com achieved a rare 1-2-3 sweep. Oliver Horovitz took second place for “Bhutan is perhaps the most enjoyable golf destination in the world”, followed by Bambergers “Tiger 2000 was the best edition ever” in third place.

Bamberg also secured first place in the Short Profile category for ‘RIP, Fuzzy, a man in full’, a reflection on the life of the late Fuzzy Zoeller.

He further added A third place in the Commentary/Analysis division.

The two wins increased Bamberger’s first career ranking was 12, marking the third straight year he has earned at least one GWAA award.

Another one 1st place prize for GOLF.com went to Nick Piastowskiwhich the Category Short function for “A golf course marshal was dying“.

Then he felt his best friend’s paw.” The story details Navy and Army veteran Hank Ford’s recovery from PTSD, aided by golf and his three-year-old yellow lab.

Sean Zak took second place in the Category Short profile for ‘She won five majors and then switched from right to left’, and received a Honorable mention in the Long Feature category for “What I Learned Playing 36 US Open Holes in 36 Hours.”

Josh Berhow took second place in the Long Profile category for “Rachel Heck didn’t need professional golf.

She wanted something more,” along with an honorable mention in the News/Game Story category for “Within hours of the US Open, Spaun’s best moment was unscripted.”
