One day, Draymond Green will have a statue outside the Golden State Warriors arena. He’ll stand next to Klay Thompson and Steph Curry as his number is retired, the Bay Area fans serenade him and he gets his flowers for helping build one of the best dynasties in NBA history.
But on Tuesday, two days before the NBA trade deadline, the Warriors are actively trying to trade one of their franchise legends for another player who will one day have a statue outside a venue.
The Warriors are doing everything they can to pull off a blockbuster trade for Milwaukee Bucks multi-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Multiple reports have already stated that they are willing to trade every bit of draft capital they have in their arsenal to get a trade across the line.

ESPN’s Anthony Slater has officially reported that Green’s name is active in trade talks for the Warriors, and that the team is willing to move him if it means bringing back a key piece in return, specifically Antetokounmpo.
While the Bucks don’t necessarily need or want defensive maestro Green as they look to rebuild, the Warriors’ cornerstone should be dealt for salary cap reasons. Green has a $25 million cap hit with a $27 million player option for next season.
The Warriors are looking to maximize their chances of winning another ring as Steph Curry moves closer to retirement, and a trade for Antetokounmpo is the only realistic chance the franchise has to give them a fighting chance heading into this year’s postseason.
Jimmy Butler, the player the Warriors acquired last season to try to get Curry the help needed to compete for another ring, went down with a season-ending ACL tear against his former team, the Miami Heat, in mid-January.
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, February 5 at 3:00 PM EST.
