First came Joe’s lover Table ‘Goals at hand’. Then the Fantasy Football Scout podcast of the same name. Now Goals Imminent is here in article form!
Heading into Gameweek 18 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), this one Members area statistics identify some underperforming players who appear ‘ready’ for a goal and/or assist.
Naturally, we try to judge whether they are unlucky, have a rare glitch or are simply not particularly good.
THE SUCCESSES OF THE LAST WEEK
As predicted, Matheus Cunha‘s (£8.0m) huge number of recent shots have led to goals in consecutive matches. In three games, the Brazilian has made 22 attempts, put eight on target and marked five as big chances.
That makes him a fairly easy replacement for the injured Manchester United teammate Bruno Fernandes (£9.4 million).
At Arsenal, Declan Rice (£7.1m) failed to score, but an assist, bonuses and defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards took him to 11 points – more than Cunha.
While Antoine Semenyo (£7.7m) had to assist, but eventually scored past Burnley. We’ve even seen it Florian Wirtz (£8.0m) picked up his second FPL return of the season, setting up Liverpool’s opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
OBJECTIVES IMMINENT
The first table shows players who have gathered at least eight shots during the last four Gameweeks, but scored no more than one goal.
