GM says hurricanes have been stiffened by Norris Trophy-winning defender

Don Waddell, who is now the current general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, but was the former GM for the Carolina Hurricanes, confirmed in an interview This week the team of his hurricanes was avoided by Adam Fox.

Fox, a winner of the Norris Trophy from 2021 and Blueliner for the New York Rangers, had traded his rights from the Calgary Flames to the Hurricanes in June 2018. Waddell said, “Yes, you remember those things, that’s for sure.”

Waddell said it was difficult to exchange Fox, but he did not realize that the defender would become just as dominant as he was. Fox won the Norris trophy in 2021 and has since been one of the top 10 defenders in the NHL.
