The few times I have been fortunate enough to participate in a Pro-Am have been some of the best golf experiences of my life. It’s a pleasure to watch a professional at work and be able to get inside his head a bit. The parties are great and during the tournament it is fun to look for a player you have known for eighteen holes.

You can learn a lot about a person over eighteen holes.

Last summer I played in the Pro-Am of the first edition of the Great Lakes Championship in The Highlands. From the pre-tournament party to the pro-am to watching the competition weekend, Boyne did a fantastic job of making it fun (as you would expect).

My group played with Crystal Wang, who was absolutely sweet to a group of retirement-age men making their way around the court. Wang is a California girl who played at Illinois. She outsmarted us on every hole but one (and we played ahead).
