Github is launching a Copilot Agents panel on Github.com

Github has unveiled an agent panel, available on every page of github.comWith which developers can delegate coding tasks to Github Copilot in the Github platform. With the Agents panel, developers can assign tasks to Copilot and manage these tasks from a single interface, Github said.

Launched August 19The agent panel is available in a public preview for all paid Copilot users. The Agents panel serves as a mission control center for agentic workflows on Github, so that developers can allocate background tasks without switching pages, checking the progress of the implementation tasks and viewing the pull requests made by agents. Accessible via a new agent button in the navigation bar, the agent panel works as a lightweight overlay with which developers can hand over new tasks to Copilot and follow existing tasks without navigating the current work, according to Github.

Github said Copilot tasks with a simple promptly prompt from the new agent panel. Users can describe a goal in the natural language and select the relevant repository. Copilot takes it from there and starts to make a plan, make changes, perform tests and prepare a pull application. The coding agent works in the background, works parallel on several tasks and gives a concept -Pull application when it is made. Github introduced the Copilot coding agent in May.
