With the month of August finally here, Barcelona now has to intensify their efforts to reduce the salary account while looking to register new signing sessions, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford.
One of the players who have been reserved for a departure is Oriol Romeu, who is no longer part of Barcelona’s plans after he walks behind in the pecking order.
Romeu comes on the back of a seasonal -hose loan saying at Girona, who remains interested in acquiring his services for a permanent deal.
Girona’s conditions to sign Romeu
According to Catalunya RadioGirona is ready to bring Romeu back to the club this summer, this time in a permanent deal.
However, the Catalans only consider a movement for the experienced midfielder when Barcelona hands him a letter of freedom.
A letter of freedom would essentially allow Romeu to leave the club for free, although his contract in Camp Nou will only expire in 2026.
Another important condition for Girona is that Romeu himself has to settle for a lower salary if he will join the club again.
After moving to Barcelona two years ago, Romeu has used to a relatively higher salary package.
But if he wants to become a member of Girona, he has to take a salary reduction because the club from Catalonia is unable to pay his current package in Barça.
Barcelona, for their part, can consider the letter of freedom, given that Romeu would not get too much on the transfer market, given its age and recurring form.
That is why it will be interesting to see how these two clubs negotiate and close the future of the experienced midfielder.
