BATTS in Harlow is building on its reputation for hosting a range of high-quality table tennis by hosting the first ever all-girls event.
Among the most popular events of the past decade are the Junior Open tournaments. The BATTS Junior Opens are always oversubscribed, with players traveling long distances to participate, sometimes even from abroad.
The development of that format, the Girls Only 1* Open, will take place on Sunday 5 July and will offer girls from under 11 to under 19, of all levels, the chance to experience a fast-paced day of table tennis.
Organizer Graham Frankel says entries came in as soon as the form was published, and within two weeks he had received entries from eight different clubs from five different provinces.
A key member of the organizing team is former England Senior Number 2 Linda Radford. Linda now uses her extensive background in high level competition by refereeing junior tournaments, including this one at BATTS.
Graham and Linda combine their experience to make this an enjoyable and challenging day for the girls lucky enough to get a place. A cash prize fund of £300 will attract strong participation, but the tournament will also be ideal for girls wanting their first taste of formal competition.
The tournament has separate registrations for Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19. Click HERE for the entry form and contact Graham Frankel for more information.
