1 – Franzoni’s late entry into the competition
While many elite alpine skiers were born and raised in the mountains, Franzoni comes from Manerba del Garda on Lake Garda – far away from any snow.
He occasionally played on skis with his twin brother Alessandro, but initially did not participate in competitions.
Eventually the Franzoni family moved to Carisolo, a small mountain village, and there things changed.
“My parents have always loved sports. My mother wanted us to continue skiing, which would have been more difficult if we had stayed at the lake. So we went to school in Carisolo and returned to Manerba during the summer holidays,” Franzoni said. Ski racing media.
Franzoni enrolled in a ski academy and was soon rewarded with a spot on the national team in his freshman year of high school.
However, the child prodigy claims that his twin brother was the main factor behind his development in those early years.
“When our lives started to grow apart, we became closer than ever. I like to talk to Alessandro about skiing, as he also raced and is now a ski instructor. Above all, he knows me better than anyone. I show him my videos and he gives me great advice, which I value very much. He is genuinely happy with my good racing results and I know he will always be there for me.”
