Giannis Antetokounmpo expressed confidence in the prospects of the Milwaukee Bucks, while he preferred a maker -role in a Tuesday -interview with Sport24 Managing Editor Harris Stavrou in Greece.
Antetokounmpo was about the trade speculation that dominated the low season and what motivates him when he enters his thirty. Antetokounmpo made his first public explanation about the coming season after months of rumors that link him to potential transactions.
The Greek superstar revealed its need for high -pressure environments to remain motivated. He connected his evolving mentality with personal adulthood that was won by marriage and paternity.
“I love the challenge,” Antetokounmpo told Stavrou. “I realized that I like to live with the pressure. Is that okay? Is it bad? I don’t know. If I am in an environment where there is no pressure and I don’t think we can achieve something great, I don’t want to be there. It doesn’t make me happy as a person anymore.”
“If you are 30 years old and you have four children and you are married – I think if you get married, you will become more mature – I want to do what makes me happy because I think I deserve it, I worked for it. What makes me happy is when I win and feel that there is a challenge. I mean, I wake up and say:” That’s the thing. “
Antetokounmpo emphasized his desire to operate as a maker instead of just as a finisher. The attacker praised his performance during the last two months of last season when he got more creative freedom.
“To get the best out of the team and to get the best out of me, I have to be a maker,” said Antetokounmpo. “I have to feel that I can make. If you look at the last two months of the team, if I had the green light, if I have the ball in my hands and I have that green light to create, I don’t always have to perform, but I have to feel that I have to feel the ball.
“(Creating) is my real self, because that is (what) I did at Filathlitikos, and that is what I always wanted to do.
The management of the bucks, including managing director Jon Horst and head coach Doc Rivers, have committed themselves to using Antetokounmpo in a point ahead this season. This strategic shift is in line with the stated preferences of Antetokounmpo for increased ball -off trading responsibilities.
Antetokounmpo expressed optimism about the selection of Milwaukee, despite the recognition of the youth of the team. He emphasized specific players who could contribute to the success of the team.
“We certainly don’t have much experience, but we are young; we have legs, fresh legs. We have a really good big man (Myles Turner). We have a good Point Guard, Cole Anthony, who I think will be an X-factor and will be the surprise of the year.”
When he was immediately asked about the opportunities of Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo gave a self -assured reaction that Bucks fans should encourage the new season.
“Yes, we have a chance,” replied Antetokounmpo. “Certainly.”
