CSA had also confirmed his further absence from the match from the end.

The right-arm speedster has been unlucky with a series of injuries in recent times. A groin injury caused Coetzee to drop out South Africa‘s Champions Trophy 2025 plans. He then returned to the team in Zimbabwe a few months ago. From then on, Coetzee represented South Africa A against New Zealand A. He was also named in the T20I and ODI squads of the multi-format tour against Pakistan.

Coetzee last played a red-ball match in November 2024. He was ruled out of the remainder of South Africa’s Test summer after suffering a groin injury. The Proteas have a strong pace bowling unit regardless of these injuries. Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams have successfully returned after a lower back stress fracture and knee surgery respectively.
