Genesis has unveiled the Magma GT Concept, a rear mid-engine concept that “points to the brand’s ambition to explore racing in the GT category,” according to the report. The brand had previously confirmed plans to develop the concept into a halo model and also enter GT racing in the future.

“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and symbolizes our commitment to true motorsports capability,” said Genesis president and chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke of the brand’s first “pure sports car.”

“It’s not defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed – it’s defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure and carefully tuned so that every part serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless,” said Donckerwolke.

Little is being offered in terms of specific details for the Magma GT Concept for now, although the brand’s racing ambitions in the GT category indicate that the future production model will be powered by an internal combustion engine, as required by current GT racing regulations. Mid-engine contenders in the production sports car racing categories include the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

The brand speaks of ‘motorsport-inspired proportions and aerodynamics’ for the Magma GT Concept, with a low front and an elongated sloping roofline that goes over a ‘boat-tail cabin’ that tapers towards the rear.

The front canards are integrated into the headlights, while a full-width intake sits below, on top of a front splitter. At the rear, a dual-line taillight complements the headlight design, while the rear bodywork is also optimized for aerodynamic performance, Genesis says.

Genesis will enter sports car endurance racing with its entry into the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Le Mans Hypercar class next year with the GMR-001, followed by entry into the United States IMSA LMDh series in 2027; the commitment to a GT3 class program will take place some time afterwards, the company reports Coach.
