Generative AI is a reality, and although it is probably too early to explain it categorically “here to stay” (flavors change after all), this is a genius that you have a little problems to get back in the bottle. Google received this effort more than a year ago, and first delivered an AI-driven tool in documents for generating cover images. Then last fall, Google expanded the use of Gemini and Imagen to be more general purposes, so you can easily take photos to insert in your documents. That was pretty powerful, but at that time it only existed as a desktop solution.
Nine months later, and Google Finally, shares that it is time for this tool to become mobile.
Although the company only announces the function today, it says that availability was already starting last Friday, with plans to release it for anyone who is eligible within two weeks.
Who exactly gets it? Well, there is the rub, and unless you are a business or gemini education customer, access to image generation in Google documents will be limited to users with Google’s Premium AI Pro- and AI Ultra plans. The good news there is that you may already have AI Pro if you have picked up a pixel 9 – and if you have not done that yet, it sounds like Google’s planning a free AI Pro deal for the Pixel 10.
