Owner, breeder and trainer Samantha Freeman was all smiles after Allsudsnobubbles made a winning racing debut at the track, in a Two year old girl (1609m) in Hobart on Sunday evening.
The castrated son of Frothing led by one wide in the early stages and had a tendency to over-race, before driver Jordan Chibnall moved him into the lead at the 1100 metres.
Allsudsnobubbles headed clear halfway down the straight before coming back late to score by 2.7 meters over Heza Ripper ($2.10 favourite) and Quetzalli ($5) in a mile pace of 1:58.9s.
“I think he had a right to be beaten. He didn’t do himself any favors when he didn’t settle, but Jordy (Chibnall) said he just didn’t know what to do. Once he got in front he switched it up a bit more and went again,” Freeman said after the race.
The pacer entered the race on the back of two recent Carrick Park trials, including a win at his first trial on September 20.
“His first test did surprise me when I took him there to try to help with his suspension. I thought his second test was pretty good.”
Freeman bred the pacer from the Armbro Operative mare Avens.
“I rode Avens on loan from Lloyd and Judy Wish-Wilson, and I had her when I worked for Chester Bullock, and then Brooke Hammond had her for a few starts for me, and then she broke down.
“The Wish-Wilsons had just moved to Queensland at the time and they asked if I wanted to keep her. He (Allsudsnobubbles) is her third foal. Her first didn’t make the track, but the next two have now both won.”
Freeman was unsure if the pacer would contest Friday night’s heats at the Dandy Patch in Hobart.
“I’m not sure yet, I’ll see how he does. Now that the nominations have been moved to Wednesday this week, I have a few days to think about it,” said the owner, breeder and trainer.
The victory was the first leg of a driving double for Chibnall, who won with the consistent mare Miss Collann ($3.60) from Kasey Kent’s stable.
Chibnall shared the honors at the meeting with Liam Older, who also rode a double with Zara Tindall ($3.80 favourite) and Sapphire Gambler ($5.50).
Training honors at the Hobart meeting went to Wayne Yole with a treble following wins over Iron Clad ($1.60 favourite), Sapphire Gambler ($5.50) and Coolandcollect ($5).
