While the Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing to start their late season against the Cincinnati Reds in the wildcart round on Tuesday, there will be an old friend in the opposite Dugout in Gavin Lux.
The 27-year-old Lux was drawn up by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2016 MLB design and debuted with the team in 2019. He helped the team to hoist two World Series trophies before he was traded to Cincinnati outside season.
Since then he has had a productive season on the record, with a stroke .269 with a career-best 53 RBIs. Although there is a lot of history with him and the city of Los Angeles, Lux only thinks about how his team dropped five of the six games to the title defender this year, and how he is out for what revenge.

“I think the last time we played them, I think they caught us at a bad time,” Lux said. “We had a hard time, we didn’t score many runs. We were struggling a bit offensive.”
Although the intensity of play -off baseball is unparalleled, Lux has the unique experience to start the first late season, away from the only team he has ever known by being confronted against his old employers.
There will certainly be emotions, but Lux has kept an eye on up to and including October.
“I think I’m all over,” Lux said. “Of course I spent a decade in this org here. Really grateful for everything they have done for me. But no, I think I’m ready to go out and try to kick their you-know-what.”
The Dodgers will do everything to ensure that the Lux Homecoming will not slow down their run to be the first back-to-back champions of baseball in 25 years, but it all starts with Tuesday evening. However, Lux is not in the starting line-up on Tuesday, with the left-handed Blake Snell on the hill.
