Following consumer complaints, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) inspected 2,282 RON 95 pumps at 584 petrol stations – including major brands, mini-stations and unbranded mini-stations – in all states and districts in Malaysia for dosage accuracy from November 3 to 9, and no non-compliance was found. “The purpose of this inspection was to ensure that all petrol pumps have undergone verification and that the certification remains valid. We also aim to detect any element of tampering or technical non-compliance by petrol station operators,” a KPDN statement said today.
“During this operation, no violations were observed where the amount of RON 95 fuel was below the maximum allowable error. The ministry is committed to ensuring the accuracy of RON 95 gasoline measurements and will continue periodic inspections. Strong action will be taken if there is any tampering or non-compliance,” the statement said.

Under Section 16 of the Weights and Measures Act 1972, offenders can be fined up to RM40,000, imprisoned for up to three years, or both, with any tampering of equipment also subject to forfeiture. KPDN on November 1 refuted claims that RON 95 gasoline had deteriorated in quality and quantity after Budi95.
All petrol station pumps undergo an annual volume check and must display a sticker stating the expiry date of this check. How is it done? KPDN pumps 10 liters (or so-called) of fuel into a 10 liter measuring device and the meter indicates how much is above or below. The tolerated amount is between -25 and +50 ml for those 10 liters.
