Pierre Gasly has committed his future in Alpine until the end of the 2028 season and signed to extend his stay to at least six years.
The Frenchman came from Alpine what Alphatauri was in 2023 and took a stage in Zandvoort in his first season with the team. A second top three-finish followed last year as part of a stunning double stage for Alpine at Interlagos, while Gasly picked up all 20 of the team’s points this season.
Despite a best finish of the tenth in the driver’s championship in 2024, Gasly says that Alpine is well placed to challenge the grid in the future and next season to become a Mercedes Power Unit customer.
“I am very happy to bind my future to Alpine in the long term,” Gasly said. “Especially when a Frenchman who drives me for a French car company, I feel very proud. Since I joined in 2023, I have always had the feeling that this team is the right place to be for the future.
‘Flavios [Briatore] support and belief in me, François’ [Provost] Involvement in the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone, have made this a natural decision and I want to come here in the coming years and achieve our joint objective: win races and world championships. We are all in here together and I look forward to continuing this special story. ”
With Gasly who is connected this year in combination with Rookies Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto, Briatore describes the Frenchman as the main driver of Alpine who is an important part for the next three seasons.
“Because I returned to the team, I have always explained how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of the BWT Alpine Formula 1 team,” said Briatoria. “We are well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, starting in 2026, and now we have confirmed our main director to bring ourselves well into the future.
“During this challenging period, Pierre has been a huge asset to the team. I am very impressed by his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together.”
