Garnacho called out what he did after leaving the field during Chelsea vs. Tottenham

He put in another strong performance on the left flank after scoring his first goal for Chelsea in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.

With the match tied at 1-0 against Spurs thanks to Joao Pedro’s goal in the 34th minute, Maresca opted to replace Garnacho with Jamie Gittens after 66 minutes.

Garnacho was yet to play a full game since joining Chelsea but appeared visibly frustrated and shook his head repeatedly as he sat on the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fan reactions were divided, with some criticizing his behaviour, while others felt he should not have been taken off and pointed out that none of his teammates were sitting next to him.

One fan wrote: “Does Garnacho think he will walk into our team and get 90 minutes all the time?”

A second asked: “Why is Garnacho angry?”

A third said: “Someone needs to remind Garnacho where he is. It’s Chelsea. Not every substitution means you’ve had a bad game. This is where we rotate players.”

Others defended him, with one writing: “Garnacho didn’t deserve that sub.”

A second said: “Absolutely unnecessary replacement of Garnacho.”

And a third added: “Garnacho simply has more impact than Gittens and this sub shouldn’t have happened so quickly.”

Chelsea managed to secure the 1-0 victory, although Gittens missed a late chance to extend the lead.

The team climbed to fourth in the Premier League with 17 points from 10 games, but clubs such as Aston Villa, Manchester City, Sunderland and Liverpool still have games in hand and could surpass them depending on the results.
