Newcastle United -wing player Garang Kuol has joined the Czech Giants Sparta Prague with a permanent deal after two unfortunate loan spells in Scotland and the Netherlands.

The Australian U23S International came to Newcastle of Central Coast Mariners in 2023, after scoring six goals in 18 league games.

Former head coach under the 21-year Diarmuid O’Carroll broke the 20-year-old for a reported £ 500,000, only a few months after leaving his role in Newcastle for a coaching role in Prague.

Kuol joined as a highly valued prospect and a future first team player, but after failed loan spells at Hearts and FC Vetertedam, he leaves the club like a tough few years.

He struggled everywhere for playing time where he went, which is a different failure for loan coordinator Shola Ameobi, but can also think about his struggle to settle in senior football.

Kuol joined the U21s last season, scored five goals and received four assists in the PL2 play -offs. He was not in the team this season, which was a catalyst for his move to the Czech competition.

Koul found it difficult to get into the team in his loan spells, only nine games for hearts in 2023 and scored one goal. At FC Voldendam he played more regularly, played 16 games and took one goal and one assist, before he was relegated to the Voldendam U21s, who only played one game there.

Shola Ameobi has to scratch unbelieving on his head and wonder how a player with so much potential did not live up to the hype.
