K-pop artist Psy, best known for his international hit “Gangnam Style” from 2012, is being investigated, according to the authorities, to use Proxies to obtain illegal medicines in South Korea.
Psy, legally called Park Jae-Sang, is said to pick up other people, including his manager, for the past three years of re-picking up regulations for Xanax and Stilnox from a university hospital.
Both drugs are often used to treat anxiety, depression and sleep disorders such as insomnia. However, they also have a high addiction risk, so personal supervision and check-ins with doctors are often mandatory.
In South Korea, however, what would be a simple message would be complicated by the ACT of Medical Services, allowing only direct family or carers to charged recipes for their people.
The 48-year-old K-pop star, who crashed records in 2012 after “Gangnam style” encouraged a global dance trend, apologized into a statement that the “supervision” had admitted to have a third party take his medication.
A tipster led the South Korean police to the violation. Soon the hospital had managed the regulations, seized medical files as part of the investigation, and a doctor was booked on suspicion of carrying out the transactions.
However, the doctor denied some misconduct and insisted that he still carried out external check-ins with Jae-Sang.
P Nation, the Psy desk, added that the K-pop star was “diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder” and the medicines “in accordance with the recipe of his medical team” took a statement obtained by Gulf News.
“His use of sleep medication is under medical supervision and within the prescribed dose. There was no proxy prescription [but] There were cases where a third party took the sleep medication on his behalf, “said the agency.
“Gangnam Style” was the first video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. Then it became the first video that reached 2 billion views on the platform in 2014.
The viral hit led to a new era of Flash Mob Dances in every corner of the world.
A year after the song was released, a man danced at a wedding while holding an AK-47 and accidentally opened fire and cut the partygoers off, killing three.
