Game thread #109: Milwaukee Brewers (64-44) @ Washington Nationals (44-64)

Despite Wednesday’s loss against the Chicago Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers still have the best record in baseball. The crew took two of the three from the Cubs and is now a match in the NL Central while they go into a three-game set against the Washington Nationals

This year, Jose Quintana has made a solid contribution at the back of the rotation of Milwaukee. The veteran Lefty has made 15 starts with a 3.50 ERA, 4.77 FIP and 55 strikeouts over 82 1⁄3 innings. He took the loss in his last performance, against the Marlins and allowed five points (two earned) about five innings while recording two strikeouts.

The Nationals start today with left -handed Mitchell Parker. So far, Parker has a 4.91 (4.46 FIP) up to and including 21 starts this year. His home age (3.92) is almost a run better and he has won each of his last two starts. That said, Parker also has an ERA of 9.53 in three career against Milwaukee.

Although the Brewers did not do much in the run -up to the Trade Deadline, they made a few movements. Brandon Lockridge (taken from De Padres in exchange for Nestor Cortes and Prospect Jorge Quintana) leads to and plays the right field. Danny Jansen (taken from the Rays for Prospect Jadher Arinamo) is sixth and catches.

Today’s line -up is a bit interesting given that Milwaukee just had a day off. Brice Turang, Sal Frelick and Isaac Collins are all out of the line -up today. For example, Jackson Chouio, who just touches the IL with a hamstring tribe. Lockridge is followed in the line -up by William Contreras (on DH) and Christian Yelich (in the left field). Andrew Vaughn will clean up, with Caleb Durbin in the Vijfhol. The Line -Up is completed with Blake Perkins, Andraw Monasterio (on second base) and Joey Ortiz.

The game is exclusively broadcast on Apple TV+and – as always – available via Radio on the Brewers Radio Network. The first pitch is planned for 3:45 ct.
