What was it like to form a connection with a hasty bid in the racing bike?

“It was great. I had to form a bond with him all year round, so I saw him develop by being broke like a baby racing in his first race. It was pretty special.”

Was there a time when you told him to be special?

“No, not really. He trained quite on average, and then as a two -year -old he qualified reasonably well, but we still didn’t really know what we had.

“I think it might be his second start at Mohawk, we racing it in one [Ontario Sires Stakes] Grassroots, and I moved it first, and he worked a bit hard on the outside, and when I asked him at the top of the piece, he just burst out. I think that was the first moment, such as: “Oh, maybe we have something here.”

“When he went to the Meadowlands for the graduate last year – it was not a final or a big race, but it was an elimin of the graduate – it rained a bit, and I won in: 51 with him, and the horses he defeated, there were special names, a few real good ones. [OSS] Gold as he did, or big races, and then two, travel to the Meadowlands and do great things there. “

Can you compare it with a certain athlete? If so, who and why?

“It would be harder for him because he is not the most gifted horse in the world, but he has a huge heart and he tries very hard. He does not blows you away with speed or raw skills, he is just a persistent horse that always appears when the money is for for

“I would say that he is like an over-performer, a Zach Hyman type. He is not Connor McDavid, but he finds ways to do great things with what he has. To take away nothing from Zach Hyman, he is a great player and a hard-working type of man.”

Three words to describe him?

“Tough. Angry. Nice.”

How did he change your life?

“I never really thought that we would have a horse like him – small owners, we have trained him on two and three, and a lot this year, and a bit last year. He changed our lives in the sense that if you work hard on a nice horse and treat him well, he can pay you back. And he changes our lives by earning a lot of money. That never hurts.

“I always say when people ask me if he is a nice horse,” he is the gift that keeps giving. “
