Galaxy Health Insurance, a standalone health insurer jointly promoted by Star Health founder V Jagannathan and TVS Group’s Venu Srinivasan, has clocked around ₹85 crore in premium in the last 14 months, since its launch. The company aims to achieve gross written premium (GWP) of around ₹400 crore in FY27.

The insurer has settled around 1,500 claims and now serves around 3.5 lakh customers with around 15,000 agents in their fold, G Srinivasan, MD and CEO of Galaxy Health Insurance, said at an event here on Monday.

The company has launched a new insurance product, Galaxy Twin 360, a health insurance program for young adults aged 18 to 45. The product comes with three packages: Core, Max & Ultra, which integrate inpatient (IPD) protection, premium outpatient (OPD) benefits and wellness services, addressing a key challenge in long-term health insurance adoption and retention.

With the Galaxy Twin 360, we want to bring outpatients (OPD) to the forefront and add wellness and inpatients to it, unlike others who offer OPD as an add-on, Srinivasan said. “So when the customer buys the product, he gets a healthy 360 degree coverage that can cover all his healthcare costs,” he said. “62 percent of healthcare costs today are so-called OPD, outpatient,” he added.

Regarding the recent VAT rate reduction on insurance, the youngest independent health insurer estimates an impact of 5 to 6 percent on operating results. “The VAT rate reduction has affected standalone health insurers more than general insurers,” Srinivasan added.

premium benefits

The new Galaxy Twin 360 product offers OPD benefits equal to even the premium paid, the company notes, and in OPD it covers unlimited teleconsultations, in-clinic doctor consultations, prescribed diagnostics, prescribed pharmacy, dentistry, ophthalmology, vaccinations, physiotherapy, mental wellness, diet and nutrition, among others. Among the wellness and value-added services, it includes free physical access to the gym through partner networks, online fitness and health sessions and others. IPD protection has also been expanded.
