Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlaor has claimed that Bruno Fernandes should not be the captain of Manchester United, and he is not a leader.
Although he has acknowledged that the Portuguese international is a top class player, he believes that Harry Maguire should be the captain of the club. The international defender of England was illuminated from his duties as a captain in 2023 by manager Erik ten Hag.

Said Agbonlaor Talking: “Harry Maguire. I don’t know why the captain was taken from him. Bruno Fernandes is not a leader.
“He is a great player, but I watch Harry Maguire in the Chelsea game, he is busy and he is physically, aggressive, he speaks to his teammates.”
Fernandes is an exceptional performer for Manchester United since he came to the club. However, there is no doubt that Maguire is a leader in the dressing room. Even his actions on the field suggest that he is warned high by the players and is considered one of the leaders, although he does not have the bracelet.
It seems unlikely that Manchester United will soon change their captain, and Fernandes will probably continue with the bracelet.
