The third round of the Carabao Cup took place on Wednesday evening.

The draw that finally starts after Manchester United was hilariously lost on penalties for the city of Grimsby.

There are 32 clubs left in the competition and the 16 third round tires are played and divided over two midweek – weeks starting on Monday 15 September and Monday 22 September.

Newcastle United is in Champions League promotion that week from Monday 15 September, so Bradford City in St James’ Park will be confronted on Tuesday 23 September or Wednesday 24 September.

Newcastle United will be Ball Number 17 in the third round of Wednesday evening Carabao Cup.

The Magpies holders of the Trophy, who won the competition thanks to the unforgettable 2-1 victory of Liverpool in the final of last season at Wembley-go along with the eight other Premier League clubs that are currently participating in UEFA-Competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference).

The side of Eddie Howe is one of the 32 sides in the draw, with 23 of those who have protected their place with victories in the second round.

The EFL has implemented a number of additional conditions for the third round draw, as a result of the expansion of the European competitive calendar.

The EFL has confirmed that two separate bowls will be used for the draw on Wednesday evening, which will take place except Sky Sports to Grimsby Town’s draw with Manchester United. One bowl consists of the eight Champions League and Europa League clubs and an consisting of the remaining 24 clubs.
