According to Safaricom Group’s half-year financial report, Fuliza recorded a 34.9% revenue recovery in the 2025/26 financial year.
Overdraft revenues have increased from KES 1.9 billion to KES 2.6 billion in the past year. This period also saw the number of M-Pesa customers using the facility grow from 7.5 million to 9.1 million, representing a growth of 22.2%.
It is worth noting that a large proportion of M-Pesa customers do not use the facility, as 9.1 million represents only 23.52% of the M-Pesa customer base, which currently stands at 38.69 million.
Furthermore, although sales have increased recently, they are still unable to match the service’s peak performance. Fuliza’s highest turnover remains the KES 3.4 billion recorded for the 2022/2023 financial year. This peak turnover was followed by declining turnover in the following two financial years.
Fuliza serves customers who meet low cost requirements as the average payout currently stands at KES 254.6. Even at its peak in FY20/21, the average ticket size was KES 478.5.
Although the average ticket size has decreased over the years, the total value of payouts has grown steadily. In the latest reportthe value of Fuliza payments reached KES 629.2 billion, representing a growth of 39.8% over the previous year. It is also a huge jump from the KES149.4 billion paid out in FY20/21.

Launched in 2019, Fuliza is an overdraft facility offered by Safaricom in partnership with two commercial banks, NCBA and KCB Bank, acting as underwriters.
