Fulham fans have commented ahead of the match.
Intriguing to read what they said about Newcastle United.
Fulham fans will be hoping their team will end a run of three Premier League defeats in a row.
But let’s be honest: many of them don’t have much confidence in it…
Their club have announced that 1,700 Fulham fans will be at St James’ Park, just over half of the maximum allocation of 3,200 away fans.
Among the comments are some very strange claims, with more than one of the Fulham fans commenting reminding everyone how they beat Newcastle United in the League Cup last season.
Funny how, as I remember NUFC doing quite well in that competition last season, I remember we played in London in the League Cup on March 16, 2025, but I don’t think it was Fulham AND Newcastle United didn’t lose!
Fulham fans respond via their Friends of Fulham notice board:
‘Newcastle had a good result against Benfica this week and will therefore be full of confidence.
Unfortunately I don’t see us getting anything. Geordies win 2-0.
That makes the Wolves match a week later a big one for us.”
“So we lost before we even stepped onto the field.
‘There’s nothing like a little confidence in your team.’
‘Of course I’d like to be proven wrong! Just be realistic.’
‘I could really use a point or three here, that’s not going to be easy.’
‘Not the way we played. Not even with the injuries we are dealing with.
One result would be Fulhamish, but I’m struggling to see how it happens.’
‘To be honest I don’t see it happening, I think we are looking to the right here. Hopefully then we regroup, make the changes we need and go for three wins over Wolves, Everton and Sunderland.”
‘Doomsday thinking is for losers and the faint of heart.
Being realistic is one thing, but making excuses, blaming bad luck and feeling sorry for ourselves is another.
So we go back to basics and get the little things right, from throwing to preventing opponents from taking a quick free kick.
Good habits make us hard to score, which in turn makes us hard to beat.
Play to our strengths and don’t spend too much time worrying about opponents, make them worry about us.
Play at our pace and stop passing the ball endlessly over our own goalmouth until we give it away. We are not Barcelona.
Go to Newcastle and win ugly, win nice, win the toss, whatever it takes, make them hate us if necessary.
To do that, as I have often said, we must have winners, fighters, leaders, characters and warriors and talk a good game.
Many Fulham supporters will travel to Newcastle and pay good money, and they deserve to witness a good performance.
I expect nothing less than a 100% commitment.’
‘Didn’t we beat Newcastle twice on their ground last season!
I believe a draw is likely as neither side has a real lead at the moment but both are well organized defensively.”
“I think it will be a 1-0 anyway, hopefully for us.
As far as the outcome is concerned, they are no different than us. We just need to have 100% effort and desire and then we can achieve victory.”
‘Bet them twice last season, including the League Cup.’
‘Newcastle are back in form after beating Benfica 3-0 tonight.
Just in time to play good old Fulham.’
“Hopefully MS and the boys have been training on corner defense formations. If they haven’t, then I think we’re doomed.
We have seen a distinct lack of defensive corners since the first game of the season. You better have someone on Burn as a second skin on the corners.
I still think we can get something out of this game. If we play like we did against Arsenal (except for the goal allowed from a corner), then I have hope…’
‘We continued our late-season collapse, going for a place in Europe, but the decline set in after Palace robbed us.
I don’t see any way out, we are so predictable on the left that there is nothing left…
I hope I’m wrong…’
‘After watching snippets of their play last night, Burn and Woltemade caused havoc for Benfica in the penalty area, often getting the ball into them through crosses/throws/corners. Based on that, I would say Diop will have to play to counter that.”
‘If Castagne plays, we are in big trouble. Last season, Gordon gave him a torrid time.
Last season’s goal came from Castagne, which was scored halfway through by Gordon.’
‘Time to let Adama go. Burn will have his hands full. Gordon may be forced to help.
Plenty of room at SJP.’
‘Waltemade will probably win the most balls or flick-ons in the air, so it’s important we win the loose ball. If Lukic is fit he will probably come back as they are strong with Guimares and Tonali in midfield. It was always a good basis for us to get a result, but we tend to think that we have a mountain to climb here tomorrow and that there is a good chance that we will be pointless in October. To be honest, I’ve looked at it, especially after the way we folded at Villa.
I hope I’m wrong and a point will feel like a win, if only to stop the rot?
Yes, we have more injuries than normal in key areas, but this probably indicates an imbalance in the squad, let alone a slight lack of quality.’
