Do you remember that sniff of Momentum that I mentioned in the pin wire? Well, the SOX just drove it to four straight, honey.
However, things did not start smoothly. The first inning was a bit of a mess for the South Siders, because after two fast outs the wheels came loose. Trevor Larnach put a single, when Luke Keaschall doubled him home. Matt Wallner followed with another RBI-Klop who crossed Brooks Baldwin on the right, and just like that it was 2-0 twins, with the SOX already in a hole.
Edgar Quero tried to induce something with a solo shot in the second, but that was the end of fun for a while when the South Side bats overrun and hit seven innings.
Has the competition continued as a pitching duel, or was it just a parade of weak bats? Take your choice. Byron Buxton tore a triple to distract the fifth, but the SOX defense actually showed up for once and stranded him. YENDRYS Gómez did his part on the hill after he got Larnach to return to the hill and Buxton at home cutting the choice of a field player.
It was still 2-1 on the way to the sixth, and no touch of attack in sight for the good. Lenyn Sosa started the frame with a single, but Montgomery, Quero and Andrew Benintendi went in order.
Zebby Matthews pushed for the twins and only gave up the Quero explosion and two singles to Sosa and Curtis Mead. He poured ice water on the SOX -Line -Up that hung 12 points last night, only for his bullpen to torestor it. Chicago turned the script for once.
Gómez called it one night after five, another solid line: two points (one earned), seven hits, a walk, five punchouts.
Mike Vasil took over for Gómez and the twins quickly hit the right shander. Ryan Jeffers hit a single to the middle, Brooks Lee moved him out with a ground and Royce Lewis landed the blow to the left with a single. Just like that it was 3-1, Twinkies. Another uphill slog for the SOX. Do you feel that you have seen this film before?
Relievers Brandon claims and Grant Taylor combined to keep the twins scoreless through the last two innings. Taylor looked particularly good, 99 MPH Fastballs shot like nobody’s business and mowed two batters.
These young boys just don’t stop and made things very interesting in the ninth of the ninth. Quero hit one with one. Benny followed by working on a walk and after Mead swinging, Baldwin tore a single to the right, scored Pinch-Runner Korey Lee and moved Benny to the third.
With Minnesota Snoozing on Baldwin, he wiped second, so that the go-ahead count was placed in a score position. Entered veteran Michael A. Taylor, who has drilled a 114.5 mph wipe machine on a 2-2 count for a double along the left field line, so that both Benny and Baldwin are placed. The ball just kissed the chalk to stay honest.
Jordan Lasure came to close in the ninth. After he had given everyone a heart attack by coughing and walking a double to start the inning, he eliminated the following three batters to make a White Sox winner!
The South Siders will sweep for the series and wrap the set tomorrow night with Shane Smith on the bump. See you soon.
