Karaka delivered a striking result with the excellent King of the swing x Gladamare colt, lot 102, sold for $140,000. As the only King Of Swing yearling offered for sale, there was plenty of interest and he certainly did not disappoint.
Crowned International Animal Health Best Presented at the NZB Standardbred Karaka Parade, he had already made a strong impression before entering the ring. His quality, athleticism and presence were evident, and the market responded accordingly with a strong six-figure result.
This result means a lot for breeders, because it gives not only sellers but also buyers real confidence in the future of King Of Swings offspring.
Breckon Farms bred King Of Swing and supported him from day one. They have supported him every season with strong books of quality mares and have believed in him as a stallion from the start. They have also done an excellent job preparing this colt for the sales ring, presenting him brilliantly and giving him every opportunity to shine.
Here too there is a full-circle moment that makes this result even more special. The buyer was Lincoln Farms. Ten years ago, Lincoln Farms was the buyer of King Of Swing himself as a yearling in 2016, insuring him for $80,000. To see them come back and invest $140,000 in one of his sons is a testament to their faith in King Of Swing’s bloodline and their belief in his future as a young father.

Even more exciting is the fact that this colt is being supported for the Cobbitty Equine Ultra Air Classic, giving his new connections a real opportunity. Series like this create meaningful goals for young horses and we look forward to seeing him on the start line for the Classic in 2027.
It is also important to thank Harness Racing New Zealand for introducing the Next Gen initiative. Now eligible, King Of Swing has received a significant increase in support over the past season, and is now also eligible for the Harness 5000. Programs like this encourage breeders to get behind emerging stallions, and the increase in support shows that there is a growing belief in what he can produce.
We are incredibly grateful to every breeder who has supported King Of Swing so far. Choosing a young stallion requires trust and that support does not go unnoticed. We are very proud of the direction he is going and we feel there are even bigger things to come.
This has been a very positive start to 2026. King Of Swing has now completed its fourth season at stud and has once again served a full book of mares. The level of support for an unproven father has been phenomenal and we are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported him so strongly.
