While Sam Altman, Elon Musk and other AI industrial leaders cannot stop singing the praise of technology, a growing number of average Americans are a different opinion.
According to YouGOV data from July, Americans are increasingly likely To believe that AI will be bad for people. In particular, 43% of Americans say they fear that AI will end the human race (an increase of 6% since March), and 47% believe that AI will have a net adverse effect on society (7% since March).
With this rise in AI pessimism there has been an increase in new blemish and jargon terms that record the negative connotations that people increasingly associate with AI – and the individuals who use it. Here is a guide for the five terms that you need to know: “Ai Washing”, “Clanker”, “Groksucker”, “Slop” and “Slopper.”
Wash
No, AI has not suddenly found a way Do your laundry while you are doing art. When you hear someone talk about ‘ai washing’, they refer to a misleading marketing practice where companies exaggerate the role that AI plays in their product or service.
This misleading marketing practice is given its name to ‘Washing green’, where a company falsely or misleading its environmentally friendly policy. Each company can be guilty of AI -Laundy if the role of AI is playing in its products wrong. Companies in industries that are more susceptible to this are those in the technology and financial sectors, and therefore the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has publicly warned about practice.
“Washing ai, whether by financial intermediaries such as investment advisers and brokerage salers, or by companies that raise money from the public, that AI -Laundy can violate the securities laws,” former chairman of the SEC Gary Gensler warned in 2024. But increasingly the term is not only assumed to describe our real AI-driven robots, but also to remove AI systems that threaten our jobs or remove human connections from our lives. A system that is often called a “clanker” is the AI chatbot that people now have to talk to when they call a customer support line. “I called my bank to ask for my balance, but had to talk to a clanker instead of a person.”

Although “Clanker” is a blemish focused on bots and AI systems, there have been various blemish to define people who are overly involved in certain AI systems, in particular generative AI chatbots. Perhaps the most visceral in this category is “Groksucker” (you can find out for yourself which other word masts the term).
The term gets its name to the Xai Chatbot Grok from Elon Musk. And grock itself out The term describes: “People who often deal with me, grock, in a way some find repetitive or annoying”, adding that the term is bound “to worry about AI excessive use or privacy on X.”
Although “Groksucker” is generally limited to describing a subdivision of grok users, there is still a term for those who are relatant on the most popular chatbot, chatgpt. But more about that below.

If there is one term that has become synonymous with AI-generated content, it is “slop”.
Slop refers to low quality, high output content that is generated by AI tools that are increasingly exceeding our feeds. Slop is shrimp Jesus who spreads on Facebook and Instagram. SLOP is YouTube videos with completely generated scripts, images and miniatures that are called from high-quality human makers. Slop is written by a machine instead of a person. And Slop is what causes the dead internet theory of fringe conspiracy to prophetic foresight.
Slop is now everywhere and it is only getting worse.

This list would not be complete without taking a snake term recently hired to describe people who are overhaul overwhelming on the world’s most popular AI chatbot, chatgpt. That word is ‘sloppers’.
De Smet became popular after a tap posted Intrnetbf went viral last month by the user. In the video, the user said that his friend came up with the term ‘sloppers’ to describe ‘people who use chatgpt to do everything for them’.
If someone is a ‘slopper’, this means that he has discharged most of their cognitive processes to chatgpt. This cognitive offloading includes asking chatgpt to be guided about different tasks that a person must be mentally well equipped to handle himself, such as planning what to do for the evening, how to respond to a SMS of a family member, or to make an important change of life, such as stopping a job.
Technological Smet can change how the audience sees a product
Although many read this perhaps a number of the above AI Jargons find humorous (and even fit), the fact that these terms enter the public lexicon will probably alert some companies that are active in the AI room.
When the public accepts new different names for products, technologies and the people they use, it usually indicates that popular perception does not go in a positive direction. This can cause a snowball effect, in which people reject the technology en masse. The “Glasshole”-play against Google Glass is a well-known example of this.
Artificial intelligence is of course a much larger and more transforming power than Google Glass – and it is unlikely that it will disappear, despite the increasing slices that are aimed at. However, this emerging jargon indicates – as the polls from Yougov also show – that the public is increasingly wary of the technology and is not afraid to express it.
