Another day of pre-match press conferences and more great Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team news.
Oliver Glasner, Sean Dyche and Unai Emery all faced the media on Wednesday ahead of their respective sides’ European matches tomorrow.
Here are the most important updates.
CRYSTAL PALACE
The man who never gets hurt is hurt: the swollen knee that ruled Daniel Munoz of Gameweek 15 now requires surgery.
Barring a much faster-than-expected recovery, we won’t see it again until 2025.
“Dani Munoz has to undergo surgery, knee surgery. We will miss him for a few weeks.
“The prognosis is four to six weeks that he should be ready to play. Whenever you have to have an operation, you never know. I’ve had a few in my career. That’s why we’re always a little cautious. It doesn’t look that serious.” – Oliver Glasner on Daniel Munoz
In other Palace team news: Jean-Philippe Mateta (knee) will not feature against Shelbourne on Thursday. However, he should return in Gameweek 16.
“JP also needs to rest. He came back with a minor injury from the French national team. We had to take care of his knee all the time. There is always a little bit of swelling and he just didn’t feel well, so he stayed home.”
“No, we don’t do that [think that Mateta will be out longer] but then I also hoped that Dani [Munoz] just miss a few days. So the plan is that JP will return to training on Friday and he should be available then.” – Oliver Glasner on Jean-Philippe Mateta
Jaydee Canvot also drops out in the middle of the week due to illness.
Ismail Sarr (ankle) remains alongside Cheick Doucoure (knee) and Be brother. (back).
However, Sarr has an outside chance of playing the reigning champions this weekend.
“Ismaila Sarr, there is still a small chance that he is also available for Man City.” – Oliver Glasner
Chadi Riad (knee) is “partially integrated” back into the squad, but has yet to participate in full team training.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Matz Sels (groin) will miss Nottingham Forest’s match with Utrecht on Thursday. However, he has a chance to appear in Gameweek 16.
“Matz has a tight groin, so we have to be careful with that. Hopefully that will pass quickly, but it is a precautionary measure to ensure that we also try to give him the best chances for the weekend.” – Sean Dyche on Matz Sels
Ryan Yates However, (hamstring) has been on the injury list for a long time.
“Yatesy has a situation with his hamstring that won’t be quick. We don’t think it’s too serious in the sense that something had to be done about it, but I think it will be a slow situation, that one. We’ll wait and see.” – Sean Dyche on Ryan Yates
Chris Wood (knee) remains sidelined, along with Taiwo Awoniyi (knock), Meals of life (knee) and Angus Gunn (knee).
“Woody is making progress, which is good. He’s on the grass and he’s been on the grass for a few days. It’s still a bit of a slow burn; it won’t be immediate, but he’s back on the road and just starting the process, so that’s good news.” – Sean Dyche on Chris Wood
Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin), Douglas Luiz (hamstring), Dilan Bakwa (hamstring) and Murillo (hamstring/illness) are in any case back in the selection.
“[Luiz, Bakwa and Zinchenko] are in the selection, yes, and then we will make a decision about it. I think this is more the case with Zinny and Douglas because of their deep knowledge of their bodies, deep knowledge of playing and their experience. Bakwa is still coming back from an injury period.” – Sean Dyche
ASTON VILLA
The broadcast portion of Unai Emery’s press conference contained little team news.
It was reported earlier in the dayhowever that Evann Guessand started training again. He missed the win over Arsenal due to an unspecified problem.
Ross Barkley (knee) and Tyrone Mings (hamstring) remain outside.
