16 goals Igor Thiago (£7.1m) aren’t doing half bad at Brentford – and now the Bees have secured the services of another striker to help with the (long-term) goalscoring burden.
Keith Andrews’ side have found a teenage striker Say Furo from Club Brugge for a reported £8 million.
Fear not, Thiago owners: this looks like one for the future.
THE MOVEMENT IN QUOTES
“I am a striker who is very fast, I like to attack. I also like to do everything in the air: nodding, jumping in the air, battling with defenders. Speed and power.” – Kaye Furo, when asked to describe his playing style
“Kaye is someone we have been following for a while and who we would really like to bring to the club.
“I like his qualities and I think we can develop them within the environment we have created. I have no doubt he will be a big player for us.” –Keith Andrews
BRIEF HISTORY + PLAY STATISTICS
| Season | Club | Division | Begins (sub-apps) | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023/24 | Club NXT | Challenger Pro League (Belgian 2nd level) | 2 (12) | 0 | 2 |
| 2024/25 | Club NXT | Challenger Pro League (Belgian 2nd level) | 15 (3) | 8 | 0 |
| 2025/26 | Club NXT | Challenger Pro League (Belgian 2nd level) | 9 (0) | 0 | 0 |
| 2025/26 | Club Bruges | Jupiler Pro League (Belgian 1st level) | 0 (5) | 1 | 0 |
A brief history indeed, as his senior career is still in its embryonic stages. In fact, he has not yet made a single top start.
After graduating from Club Brugge’s youth academy, Furo has spent most of his time in the Belgian second level at Club NXT, the academy side of The blue-black one.
2024/25 was his breakthrough season in the Challenger Pro League, with a goal every 150 minutes. He also scored two goals and an assist in five UEFA Youth League matches.
And this season, the 6-foot-1 prospect has moved more into the senior team.
Please note, he can only be seen as a substitute for Club Brugge. Furo got his one and only top goal off the bench last month and made his UEFA Champions League debut as a second-half substitute against Arsenal the same week.
The 18-year-old has played for Belgian youth teams in every age category from under-15s.
THOUGHTS
We love covering every key that comes in in Scout Reports or transfer summaries, but this feels like a transfer more relevant to FPL 2026/27, maybe even 2027/28.
Brentford are smart buyers in the transfer market and are snapping up the club, among others Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1 million) and Yoane warned (£7.3 million) for pennies and sell it for big money.
And Furo – who has yet to be priced by the FPL – is following a proven path by joining the Bees of Club Brugge. That’s exactly what Igor Thiago did almost two years ago.
So it’s a transfer worth paying attention to in the long term, given West London’s previous successes.
But for now, he’s likely to have little impact on FPL.
Young players with much more senior experience, such as Kevin Damage (£7.1m – another January signing) have been eased into first-team contention in the past. Rookie Brazilian winger Gustavo Nunes (£4.9 million) is another example; Even after recovering from a lengthy layoff, he has been treated carefully and has yet to start a Premier League match.
Furo is expected to be part of the first-team lineup and we may see the occasional drop off the bench. He certainly is no lack of confidence.
If Thiago is ever absent or needs rest (the following three-match week). is in February and ends with an FA Cup fourth round tie against non-league Macclesfield Town, who shouts ‘Thiago breather’), we would expect Damage, Dango Ouattara (£5.8m) or even Keane Lewis Potter (£4.9m) at the top before Furo gets the nod.
