FPL Gameweek 21 Differentials: 3 Low Owner Picks to Consider

Our Gameweek 21 differentials column offers a trio of low-owned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) assets for your consideration.

MARCUS TAVERNIER

  • FPL Ownership: 2.4%
  • Price: £5.6 million
  • GW21-25 fixtures: UNTIL | bha | LIFE | wool | Breeding

With Justin Kluivert (£7.0m) on the sidelines and Antoine Semenyo (£7.6m) likely to leave soon, the responsibility may fall to Marcus Tavernier (£5.6m) to inspire Bournemouth in the second half of the season.

The £5.6m midfielder has produced four goals and two assists so far in the 2025/26 season, amassing 81 points.

But crucially, his underlying stats are promising over the past six gameweeks, with 16 shots (the seventh most of any FPL midfielder) and six chances created.

He has also made 59 defensive contributions in that period (DefCon), impressing in a slightly deeper midfield role in Andoni Iraola’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Last month the Spaniard stated:

“I think he has been very good in both games, both offensively and defensively. He has had chances, not just the goals. Playing him there gives us more of an attacking threat because his natural way of moving will put him in dangerous situations. We will probably lose a little bit defensively, but I think the balance against teams that are very good has been quite good.” – Andoni Iraola about Marcus Tavernier

At just €5.6 million, Tavernier could be a great budget option, especially if fines are on the line once Semenyo leaves.

A home game against Tottenham Hotspur could also be the right starting point, especially after Thomas Frank’s side exerted so much pressure in the second half against Sunderland in Gameweek 20.

Tavernier and Bournemouth will then take their chances, with even more favorable fixtures in Gameweek 24, when the Cherries begin an eight-match series:

Bournemouth may be in poor form, but they put in a very good performance against Arsenal on Saturday and could well score a corner against Spurs, suggesting Tavernier can be a solid fourth or fifth midfielder.

JAAMES GARNER

FPL Gameweek 20 Scout Picks: Three Doubles 1
  • FPL Ownership: 3.2%
  • Price: £5.1 million
  • GW21-25 fixtures: WOOL | breeding | LEE | bha | ugly

It’s the all-round points potential of James Garner (£5.1m) which has made us plump for the Everton midfielder.

The 24-year-old has scored just five attacking goals in the 2025/2026 season; however, he notably ranks 11th for total points among midfielders, with 89.

This is partly due to his ability to rack up DefCon points, as he has reached the threshold nine times this season, fourth most among all players at his position.

Furthermore, Garner’s 31 shots and 24 chances created are both among Everton’s top two players.

David Moyes’ side have had a difficult run of form recently, with just one win in five games. However, Garner is one of the few players to remain consistent, and reports suggest he could even get an England call-up soon.

Garner should also take on some more attacking responsibility in the absence of the injured Kieran Dewsbury-Hall (£5.0m).

“He’s been playing so well for us and he’s taken on a bit more responsibility and leadership, so he’s really matured.” – David Moyes on James Garner

Garner is available for £5.1 million and appears to be very favorably priced ahead of a number of favorable upcoming fixtures, including home encounters with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United over the next three gameweeks.

Garner is a true all-rounder with set duties in his locker and could therefore be an excellent punter and a very decent depth option.

MOTHER MUCH

FPL notes: £4.5m forward strikes... but £4.0m 'keeper flops
  • FPL Ownership: 0.5%
  • Price: £4.5 million
  • GW21-25 fixtures: eve | NEW | mci | BOU | THAT IS

After starting Wolves’ last three games, Matoe Manen (£4.5m) has proven to be a viable budget option, especially for those Fantasy managers who play a 4-4-2, 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 formation.

The youngster made his first Molineux start in Gameweek 20 and was heavily involved. He scored and won the penalty which Hwang Hee-chan (£5.6m) converted for a total of 12 points.

He almost added to that with another goal.

It capped off an excellent individual performance, which earned rave reviews from his manager:

“He’s 18, but he’s almost a bit of a leader there as well. I think it’s contagious. I think he transfers to people, his energy, his enthusiasm. He’s a very bright talent and someone we should be very excited about, but at the same time we just want to try to take care of him.” – Rob Edwards on Mateus Mane

Since his first start in Gameweek 18, Mane has scored seven shots in three games.

All but one of those efforts came off the beaten path, but at least he has other routes to points. For example, Mane almost clinched DefCon in Gameweek 20, with two clearances, five recoveries and four tackles.

This is partly due to his role.

Mane is not a true striker in Rob Edwards’ 3-5-2, but more of an attacking midfielder, as shown below.

As for Wolves, they’re finally starting to take shape. They lost by just one goal at Anfield, then drew against Manchester United and beat West Ham United 3-0 on Saturday.

They now face Everton, who scored four goals at home to Brentford in Gameweek 20.

With Mane full of confidence, he could be ready to capitalize and quickly become the best £4.5m forward option in FPL.
