Man City: Reasons to be cheerful

Remarkable signing sessions

Rayan Cherki - Scout Report

City has strengthened their team with the arrivals of Tijjani Reijnders (£ 5.5 million), Rayan Ait-Nouri (£ 6.0 million), Rayan Cherki (£ 6.5 million) and James Trafford (£ 5.0 million) This summer.

Ait-Nouri is particularly interesting, because it is almost the preference of Pep Guardiola to return to conventional full-backs.

Reijnders offers an option that comes late in the box, while Cherki immediately adds creativity to the midfield of the city.

There have also been some remarkable changes in the coaching staff, with Pep Libnders brought in to replace Juanma Lillo.

Libnders, who worked under Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool, has a reputation for urgent intensity and attacking play.

Rodri is back … just not completely yet

What is the potential of Rodri's defensive contribution points in FPL? 2

Of Rod (£ 6.5 million) Back from injury, you would expect that the defense of the city and the game will be improved.

The Spaniard played only 72 minutes Premier League football in 2024/25 before he tore his ACL in Gameweek 5. His interest for City is laid down in the expected goals of Statsbomb (XGC): XGC):

The Ballon d’Or winner only comes back to full fitness after the international break from September, but if he does, it will be a huge boost.

And what about Phil Foot (£ 8.0 million)? He has some time this summer and will be desperate to recapture his shape prior to the FIFA World Cup next year.

Man City: Reasons to be anxious

Disappointing Campaign 2024/25

FPL Notes: Pep on Marmoush's "influence" + Haaland's fitness

City finished third in 2024/25, 13 points drift from champions Liverpool.

Their nine losses in the Premier League were more than their previous two seasons.

They were also eliminated early from both the UEFA Champions League and League Cup, and their defeat in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace meant no silverware for the first time in the centuries.

“The season has been difficult, a difficult year. We have struggled a lot in the Champions League, we were not solid or consistent. It is becoming more complicated, because seven, eight or nine teams can qualify [for the Champions League]. ” – Pep Guardiola

The underlying figures arouse further concerns: third for expected goals (XG) and seventh for XGC.

There was also a pretty substantial gap between Arsenal and Liverpool defensive:
