So which players in Newcastle United will have to do without Eddie Howe?
Yoane warned
The striker will at least be the next five games, including Bournemouth, because of a knee injury that has been picked up on international service. The NUFC head coach in the hope that Wissa can return for Brighton on Saturday 18 October:
Jacob Ramsey
The former villa player is also left and will not return until after the October international break, hopefully also for Brighton.
Anthony Gordon
The wing player completes his three -match Domestic Prohibition and will be available again for all games, starting with Bradford on Wednesday evening.
Fabian Schar
Immediately after the game in Barcelona, Eddie Howe was asked about the Swiss defender after being enforced with what seemed to be a head injury:
“I don’t have any information at the moment. I am in the hands of the doctors.
“The only message I had was that he was ok to continue, then it became clear that he couldn’t.”
On Friday the player gave an update himself.
Fabian Schar through his staff social media Couple:
‘Disappointed that they have not received the [Barcelona] Game but many more points to pick up this campaign!
“Unfortunately I will miss a few games, but hope to be back soon.
“Wor flags – as always incredible.”
This seems to confirm that dab was suffering from concussion. So it seems that he will miss these next three games against Bournemouth, Bradford and Arsenal because of concussion protocols.
Kieran Trippier
There is doubt about the defender of England who turned 35 on Friday. He limp fifteen minutes to go the Barcelona match and was replaced by Sven Botman. I think he will be at his best on the couch.
Jacob Murphy
Another player with perhaps doubts whether he is considered a starter on Sunday.
Murphy was sitting on the couch against Barcelona and introduced to deal with less than half an hour of the game and got an assist for Gordon’s goal.
After the game, Eddie Howe revealed:
“Jacob Murphy provides an Achilles problem and we just want to keep the majority of the team as fit and healthy as long as possible.”
So four Newcastle United players have certainly excluded against Bournemouth, plus I see Kieran Trippier not considered a starter. Although my gamble is that Jacob Murphy will be okay to start when Eddie Howe chooses to do this, although Anthony Elanga was very good against Barcelona and I will be surprised if he is not in the team. Perhaps a more positive selectionilemma for Eddie Howe there, they may both play and Elanga who switch to the other wing, or uses in another role and possibly a change in education.
